AN ARCHAEOLOGIST helping to develop a piece of Northwich's history for the future will talk about his work at a town meeting next month.

Chris Hewitson, the project archaeologist at the Lion Salt Works, will be the main speaker at the Rotary Club of Northwich's special speaker meeting on March 9.

He will talk about work to restore the unique open pan salt works, which is expected to open as a heritage attraction at Easter.

Cllr Mike Jones, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC), will also speak about the regeneration of the town, how it fits into the wider CWAC picture and what the next steps are.

Clive Steggel, speakers secretary for the club, said: "Both presentations represent exciting times ahead for Northwich and will be very interesting.

"A lot is happening in our town, come and hear directly from our council and the developers and also have a chance to ask questions with the persons involved."

The meeting will take place on Monday, March 9. at Winnington Park Recreation Club, in Park Road, and includes a buffet lunch.

Doors open at 11.45am, lunch is at 12.30pm, speakers take to the floor at 1.15pm and there will be a 15-minute question time at 2pm.
