BOXERS from mid Cheshire will take on the rest of the north west in a fight night in Lostock in February.

Battle of the Era, organised by New Era Boxing, takes place at Lostock Club, in Works Lane, on February 20.

Team New Era boxing squad will battle 'the best of the rest', with participants coming from across the region for this sixth event organised by New Era.

There will be skill bouts for children aged 10 and above, schoolboy bouts for 11 to 13-year-olds, junior bouts for teenagers aged between 14 and 16, youth bouts for those aged from 17 to 18 and senior bouts for 19 to 40-year-olds.

Trophies will be up for grabs in each category.

Tom Bunby, from the club, said: "This is a way to introduce boxing as a form of competition for the first time without the pressure of a judge's decision.

"It's a cheap night out, it's good for the community and it's about supporting local talent."

Tickets are £15 for a ringside seat and £12 for other seats with proceeds going towards improvements at New Era, which is based in Queen Street.

New Era is also looking for sponsors for the bouts.
