THE Roberts Bakery Band is to perform at a festive charity carol concert alongside Russell Watson on Christmas Eve in aid of Global Radio’s Make Some Noise charity.
The Yuletide performance will raise money for young people whose lives have been affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity and will take place on the iconic cobbles of TV soap, Coronation Street.
Guests at the event will enjoy a medley of Christmas songs performed by the brass band, sponsored by family bakers, Roberts Bakery, including Silent Night, Jingle Bells and White Christmas.
Band MD, Simon Stonehouse said: “Accompanying Russell Watson during the evening on the set of the UK’s biggest soap is set to be a magical experience for all of our performers, made more special because we are raising awareness for such a hard-working charity.”
This winter wonderland event tops off another bumper year for the band. Recent accolades include being named the Most Entertaining Band of 2014 by the Ring ‘O’ Bells Marple Concert Series and an invitation to perform at the European Blasmusikfestival in Germany.
The band was formed more than a century ago, and was adopted by Roberts Bakery in 1980.
The band has 30 members, 20 of who will be performing on Christmas Eve.
