SAPLINGS have been planted in a Sandiway woodland thanks to schoolchildren and a Northwich club.

The Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal organised the event with the Petty Pool Trust and the help of 13 Year Five children from Victoria Road Primary School.

Rotarians and pupils planted 75 deciduous trees at the Petty Pool Outdoor Centre, which were provided by the Woodland Trust.

Graeme Soutar, Rotary Youth Services chairman, said: “ We are grateful to the Petty Pool Trust and the Woodland Trust in helping us with this worthwhile project.

"The children seem to have enjoyed their day planting trees, and we hope that they will come back to see the trees become established.”

Children have attached special messages to their trees and will revisit the site in spring to see how much their tree has grown.

The Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal continues to work closely with the Petty Pool Trust by offering funding and support for local school children to visit the centre.
