TWO museums are appealing for volunteers to help bring history to life in Northwich.

The Lion Salt Works, soon to be Britain's newest heritage attraction, and Weaver Hall Museum are looking for people who can help with special events, family activities, guided tours, gardening and research.

Clr Stuart Parker, Cheshire West and Chester Council's executive member for culture and economy, said: “We already run a successful volunteer programme at Weaver Hall Museum where volunteers play an integral role alongside our highly experienced staff in delivering a first-class visitor experience.

“We plan to extend this to the Lion Salt Works when it opens in spring 2015 and would like to hear from people of all ages and from all backgrounds.

“Your interests, experiences and skills could be beneficial to us, regardless of how much time you might be able to spare.

“In return, you will receive full training and a rewarding experience that is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills while helping to bring Northwich’s rich history to life.”

An informal meeting for anyone interested takes place at the Lion Salt Works, in Ollershaw Lane, Marston, at 11am on Tuesday, December 9.

Anyone who would like to attend should email lorna.kernahan@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk by Monday, December 8.
