UNSUNG heroes and sporting talent from Middlewich could be honoured in an Oscars-style award ceremony next month.

Everybody, the organisation running leisure services across the area, will be hosting the presentation and are currently asking for sporting champions from around Cheshire East to tell their story.

The event will be held at Cranage Hall, near Holmes Chapel on Thursday, November 20.

Andrew Kolker, Everybody chairman, said: “We are delighted with the response so far and have a healthy number of entries in each category.

“Cheshire East, however, has a fantastic range of talented athletes and we believe there are many more who deserve to be in the running for an award and we would very much like to hear their stories.”

The evening will pay tribute to the success of Cheshire East athletes while recognising those unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes to develop sport across the area.

Athletes, clubs, coaches, schools and volunteers will all be honoured during the presentation.

Awards will be given to inspirational people in the categories of Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Young Sports Achiever, Disabled Sports Achiever, Sports Personality and Special Recognition while others will go to the top club, primary school, secondary school, primary school and special school.

Event organisers are now looking for talented sports people in Cheshire East to be nominated for one of the awards before the deadline on Friday, October 17.

The event, previously organised by Cheshire East Council, is now in its fifth year and oganisers at Everybody expect around 200 people will attend the evening.
