YOUNG people are being invited to develop their skills and confidence in a fire service programme to help them get ahead.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting a team of people aged between 16 and 25 to take part in the next Prince's Trust programme.

This is a 12-week course based in Northwich and starting on September 15.

Hazel Crampton, Prince's Trust team leader for the Northwich, said: "This programme is designed to help develop young people's skills and confidence through practical community projects and work experience.

"The primary focus here is team work within the community which supports our local neighbourhoods.

"Experience shows us that 80 per cent of all graduates from the programme have gone on to achieve things as a result, this includes getting back into, or going forward into, education or gaining employment and training."
