NORTHWICH builders’ merchants Buildbase has donated gardening equipment to help Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s ‘Assisting U’ service to provide gardening assistance to customers.

Buildbase, based on Chapel Street, Wincham, has been supporting the ‘Assisting U’ service for 12 months by providing small items such as screws, nails, wood, paint and health and safety equipment.

The ‘Assisting U’ service offers a wide variety of personalised, tailored handy persons’ services to help older customers, or those with a disability, in their own homes.

These include tasks such as decorating, putting up shelves, shopping, sorting out cupboards, or even just having a chat and a cup of tea.

Now Buildbase has presented the ‘Assisting U’ team with a HUSQVARNA GX560 Petrol Mower complete with transport wheels, and petrol MAKITA Brush cutter and blade.

This will mean the team have their own equipment to hand and so are more able to respond to the needs of the individual customers.

Yvonne Banks, supporting people team leader, said “The ‘Assisting U’ team greatly appreciates the continuous support and sponsorship of the Northwich branch of Buildbase, and especially from Stuart Burton, branch manager.

“By gifting these two fantastic pieces of machinery to us, it allows us to provide personalised gardening support to those eligible for our Assisting U services.”

Stuart Burton, Buildbase branch manager, said “Helping elderly and disabled people to enjoy their homes and gardens without the hard work it involves is a great way to give them a better quality of life.

"We're delighted to contribute our bit to the excellent work being done by the Assisting U service and the best way Buildbase can do that is with the right expertise and tools to get the job done."

The ‘Assisting U’ service aims to allow people over 50 years, with no able bodied person living in the home, or those below this age group but living with a disability, to stay independent in their own homes.
