WINSFORD residents are being asked for their views on two options for the £56,000 redevelopment of the Minster Close play area.

Following a public consultation earlier this year, two plans have been developed - one based at the existing play area, and an alternative plan based on the opposite parcel of land off Minster Close.

The plans will be on display at the play area on Tuesday, July 15, between 5-7pm, when people will be able to find out more information and provide feedback.

Clr Lynn Riley, executive member for localities, said: “Football, as one example, came up as a priority, so both options incorporate an area for football with mini goals and astro turf goal mouths to make them user-friendly all year round.

Clr Stephen Burns added: “Both options feature exciting new play equipment which will compliment the current equipment and provide play opportunities for children for a broader age range.

“One plan uses the current play area but slightly extends it while the other is in a new location which has fewer houses surrounding it and slightly more space.”

Both options re-use some of the existing play equipment - which will be upgraded - alongside a range of new facilities including infant swings, a cantilever swing, spinning dish, slide and gyrol spiral.

The two plans also feature small-scale football facilities as well as picnic benches, footpaths and soft landscaping.

If the relocated option is taken forward there is scope to make the existing play area a designated area for walking dogs off the lead.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has secured £30,000 of funding towards the project to date and is awaiting the outcome of applications for the outstanding £26,000 required to complete the scheme.

Anyone unable to attend the session can provide feedback or request copies of the two plans by emailing mary.lavery@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
