RESIDENTS’ views on plans for a major new housing estate will be taken into account, company boss David Topham assured local people this week.

Developers CTP, Northpoint Developments and Hawk Group are putting together proposals for up to 200 homes on land at Rudheath.

Mr Topham is chief executive of CTP, which met with residents and local councillors at a stakeholder workshop to discuss the major housing scheme.

“The workshop was all about getting input from the community whilst we are at a very early stage of the development process and drawing up a masterplan,” said Mr Topham.

“Those who attended made some very useful points, and that sort of local knowledge is invaluable when bringing forward a project of this nature.

“Our team had some extremely constructive conversations at the event. We will take this on board as we consider the options for the site, and intend to carry out further consultation when we have a more detailed masterplan.”

The new homes are earmarked for land at Park Farm, north of the A556, and 15 residents and councillors attended the workshop at Shurlach Methodist Church on Shipbrook Road.

A CTP spokesman said members of the project team hosted round-table discussions with members of the community – seeking their input and listening to what aspects of the development they felt were most important.

“Workshop attendees discussed their initial thoughts on the masterplan, the opportunities of using open space within the site and the types of homes they would prefer to see built,” added the spokesman.

During the session members of the project team provided feedback on topics including access to the site and transport, flood zones, ecology, the types of materials to be used, the need for parking, the views from around the site and the potential to link recreational land at the site with nearby open spaces.

A public exhibition with details of the planning application is to be held in the next few months.
