A CHARITY shop in Northwich is urging people not to discount them in favour of other shops paying cash for clothes and shoes.

The Scope shop, in High Street, is appealing for residents to keep donating stock for them to sell in aid of the charity.

Linda Anson, shop manager, said: “We’re desperate for stock.

“What we’re finding is that people are selling their stuff now to these pop-up shops buying clothes so people are still having sort-outs, they’re just not bringing items to us.

“For the past 12 to 18 months that’s what people have been doing.

“We understand that people need pennies, everyone’s struggling.

“People think it’s an extra tenner they didn’t have before but little things like brand new shoes that haven’t been worn may not even tip the scales but we could get a fiver for them and it would go to the charity.”

Linda said the Scope shop will accept donations of anything apart from large furniture.

She also advised people to pop in with donations during opening hours.

If they provide their name and address along with the donation the charity can also claim Gift Aid, giving them an extra 25p for every £1 made or donated.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
