CHESHIRE firms are being invited to help build the new £14million Northwich Memorial Court.

Wates Construction, the contractor for the work, is hosting two Meet the Buyer events to find suppliers and sub-contractors for the work in Northwich, as well as Ellesmere Port Sport and Leisure Village, both Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) projects.

The Northwich session will be at Winnington Park Recreation Club, in Park Road, from 8.30am to 12.30pm on Thursday, January 23.

Tony Shenton, business unit director for Wates Construction, North West, said: “Wates and Cheshire West and Chester Council have a shared commitment to ensuring that local suppliers and sub-contractors are engaged in the delivery of the two new leisure developments for Ellesmere Port and Northwich.

“The two schemes are set to positively impact the local community once complete and Meet the Buyer events are a valuable means to ensuring delivery of the construction works brings benefit to the regional economy, helping to boost local employment.”

Clr Stuart Parker, CWAC’s executive member for culture and economy, said: “We are determined to ensure that local businesses can benefit from these large-scale projects and connect with the supply chain wherever possible and I would urge businesses to come along to either of the ‘Meet The Buyer’ events to find out more.”

Local businesses are encouraged to attend the event to tender for a range of opportunities, including curtain walling, cladding and roofing, building services, frame, and ceilings and partitions.
