FASHIONISTAS at Mid Cheshire College have taken to their sewing machines as part of a project to help dress girls living in poverty in third-world countries.

Level three extended diploma fashion students are supporting Gill Snowball, from The Visual Arts Cheshire Gallery, in her international project ‘Dress a Girl Around the World’.

The team at the Hartford Campus chose bright pillowcases and materials and found it interesting making them look different with little additions of braids and buttons.

“I’m so pleased the fashion students have helped to make this project a success,” said Gill Snowball.

“It’s really great to get such creative young people involved in a very worthwhile project. Thanks to everyone who took part.

“I am overwhelmed with the response I've had and each dress will make such a difference to a little girl's life. The dresses are so individual, each one is a work of art.”

The dresses will be on display at the VAC Gallery on Monday, December 9 before they are despatched the day after.

“The destination of the dresses is unknown until the images are seen on the Dress a Girl website of the little girls wearing the garments we've all made,” added Gill.

Visit the Gallery on Monday or to see photographs of the dresses.
