A NORTHWICH woman who survived cancer has raised £1,400 as a thank you to the hospital that treated her.

Emma Jozkow’s life was turned upside down in January when she was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer but thanks to the support of The Christie, the 37-year-old’s three month check up came back clear.

The mother-of-one, from Yarwood Close, underwent a full hysterectomy and six chemotherapy sessions before beating the disease but says she owes it all to the Manchester-based hospital and their service and support.

“Nothing was ever too much for the staff and they worked so hard to ensure that my chemotherapy session was as comfortable as possible,” said Emma.

“The service and support I received was fantastic and made such a difference to my recovery.”

Emma, who lives with partner Andrew and five-year-old daughter Imogen, decided to give something back to the Christie by holding a cake and coffee event at Knutsford’s Crosstown Bowling Club.

She smashed her £150 target, raising £1,400, which will be matched by Barclays Bank.

“The event was a huge success and the venue was full all day despite the rain,” said Emma.

“Friends, family and members of the public came along to support me. My old primary school teacher, who I haven’t seen for more than 20 years, even came along.”

Emma thanked her friends and family for helping her to organise the event, Crosstown Bowling Club for allowing her to use the venue free of charge, the club’s C and D bowling team for donating £100 and Sheldon’s dairy, who also donated £50 as well as providing milk for the teas and coffee.

“I also want to say a big thank you to the people and businesses who baked cakes and donated some fantastic prizes towards the raffle and tombola.

“Without the help and support I received from everyone, the event would not have been as successful as it was.

“The money raised will help the Christie to continue providing an excellent service to its patients and their families.”
