A CONSULTATION on the future of the former Marley Tile Works site will take place this weekend.

The Crown Estate is holding a consultation event this Friday and Saturday on its plans to regenerate the site, off Station Road, Delamere following a consultation on initial proposals during the summer.

Detailed plans will be presented at Delamere Community Centre and will show how the scheme includes 180 market and affordable homes, of which a number will be dedicated for older people following feedback from nearby residents.

It also provides an area for allotments or a community garden, children’s play areas and green open space, said to benefit new residents and the wider Delamere community.

Space has been maintained for the proposed ‘multi-user’ route linking Delamere and Oakmere and opportunities have been identified for woodland walks.

The regeneration scheme will also contribute to local traffic calming and access improvements along Station Road and The Crown Estate has initiated investigations into the possibility of facilitating the delivery of gas mains and broadband to the Delamere area.

The Crown Estate’s strategic land manager, Steve Melligan, said: “We encourage local residents to come along on to this weekend’s exhibition events and share their views.

“Our consultation with local councillors and residents over the summer enabled us to further understand those issues of key importance to the Delamere community. That feedback has been vital in informing the detailed proposals we are now consulting on”.

The exhibitions will take place in Delamere Community Centre on Friday November 22, from 3pm until 7pm, and Saturday, November 23 from 9am until 1pm.

Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions.

The proposals will be available to view online from Friday at delamereconsultation.co.uk
