A SUPERMARKET worker from Northwich has been named as a local hero.

Davenham resident Victoria Davies, who works at Sainsbury’s in Northwich, has been busy volunteering for Mid Cheshire District Explorer Scouts.

She has spent most of her free time helping youngsters of all ages at camping expeditions and at their weekly meeting nights.

Thanks to Sainsbury’s matched giving scheme, Local Heroes, Victoria is able to increase the support she has given to the charity with an additional £200.

Sainsbury’s Local Heroes scheme recognises colleagues who dedicate their spare time to local charity work and helps them to support their own personal charities to make a difference in the local community.

The scheme is now in its 10th year and has supported over 7500 colleague applications with almost £2 million in additional donations and Sainsbury’s is keen to give more.

Store manager Peter Jones said, “We are very proud to have colleagues that are so dedicated to helping out in the local community. Victoria is an inspiration to us all.”
