POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a deliberate fire at a house in London Road, Northwich, yesterday.
Sometime between midnight and 6.20am on Wednesday September 18, a wooden cupboard in the rear porch of a house was deliberately set alight while the occupants were asleep in the house.
The fire caused considerable damage to the porch and the back door. A 23-year-old man from Northwich was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
DC Deborah Lack said: "Thankfully the fire didn′t spread to the rest of the house, but this could have been a very different story.
"I would urge anyone with information or who saw suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact police."
