GENEROUS Weaver Vale Housing Trust staff have raised more than £9,000 for the Salvation Army Corps in Northwich and Winsford.

Over the past 12 months staff have gathered £9,459 through raffles, a sponsored head shave, cake sales and auctions.

The Trust have also held tea and toast mornings at their office in Gadbrook Park and at their independent living schemes.

The Northwich and Winsford Salvation Army was chosen by the Trust as their charity of the year in July 2013 and Jean Craven and Imogen Stewart from the corps received their final fundraising cheques last week.

“The money raised will make a difference in helping us to assist people in the local community who really need our support,” said Imogen.

“Without the efforts of fundraisers at organisations like the Trust we simply wouldn’t be able to do the work we do.

“One of the projects that the Trust’s funding will really help is our gift boxes for vulnerable people at Christmas time.”

The staff at WVHT also donated food and goods to the Salvation Army and raised a further £5,040 for other charities this year through dress down days, sponsored marathons and cake sales.

“The generosity shown by Trust staff has been absolutely amazing,” said Sue Malek from the Trust’s Giving Something Back Group.
