WINSFORD residents have 20 days to voice their views on the emerging Neighbourhood Plan.

The Neighbourhood Plan allocates potential sites for the 3,150 new houses Winsford must build under Government targets and residents have until September 16 to submit feedback.

The plan also features aspirational designs for the town such as improved cycle networks, leisure facilities and shops.

Town mayor Mike Kennedy is encouraging all residents to take a look at the plans and consider the potential benefits for Winsford.

“Of course we expect some detrimental comments,” he said.

“But overall I believe a vast majority are in support. The plan includes not only a growth in housing, but improvements to the town’s facilities as a whole.

“It will revamp the town and be good for the whole picture of Winsford.”

One proposed development involves building 116 family homes on land off Swanlow Lane.

Goldfinch Promotions have applied to develop 81 three and four bedroom houses with another 35 for social rent on the 11.7 acre site two miles south of Winsford town centre.

Over recent months, three separate applications have been lodged for a total of 540 dwellings on land off Chester Road and Oakmere Road and a further 70 in Tattenhall.

The Neighbourhood Plan is currently with Cheshire West and Chester Council during its publicity stage and whether it is adopted by Winsford will be decided during a referendum in 2014.
