A DRIVER had to be rescued after his lorry tipped over on the A559 in Antrobus.
Firefighters were called to free the man from the vehicle, which was carrying a crane, and the road has been closed in both directions between Well Lane, in Stretton, and Wheatsheaf Lane, in Antrobus.
The driver is uninjured.
The incident happened near the Antrobus Arms pub at 4.45pm yesterday, Wednesday, and the road remains closed in both directions this morning.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Normally the duty garage would come out and remove a vehicle but due to the size of this, because it’s a lorry with a crane on it, they have to come out in daylight to assess how to remove it.”
“There’s no indication of when the road will reopen at this point.”
