THE feature on the Beatles, Guardian website, April 27, implied that their appearance on April 27, 1963 was their only one.
Of course the Beatles appeared a further five times, the most memorable to most people being a couple of months later, on July 6, when they also crowned the carnival queen, in Verdin Park.
I remember this event being pandemonium with teenage girls running wild all over the park. It was the next day that a national journalist coined the term Beatlemania.
