IN response to the article regarding the driver seeking compensation from Cheshire West and Chester Council after pothole damage, Guardian, March 24, I completely agree that the state of our roads, main and country, are becoming a nightmare.
However it’s not just the drivers who have to worry, pedestrians too have to battle with the conditions of the pavements.
With the fight of keeping the roads clear from ice and snow earlier this year, nothing much was done for our footpaths.
Heavy weathering has completely taken its toll and made a simple walk from A to B like something from Beirut.
OK, a little exaggeration there, but the number of times I have, or seen, someone trip or turn a heel is unbelievable.
I think it’s about time the council addresses not only the roads but also pavements, before someone injures themselves and claims more compensation from them.
However, I’m not holding my breath, it took them long enough to fill Weaverham shops’ potholes, after about 10 years of pleading!
