I RECENTLY visited Thailand for a holiday, a thing I have done frequently for the past 10 years.

However since the bombings in Bangkok in 2015 and 2018 there have been significant changes towards national security.

In 2018 everybody had to register their SIM card for their phone. That involved taking your passport to the phone provider who retained your details in relation to that phone number but this year they also took a photograph of you as well for their records.

Another significant change at immigration control was apart from taking your photograph they now take your fingerprints as well.

I have no qualms about this level of security I think it is the right approach to national security and would welcome this level of security to be introduced into the United Kingdom. At least we would know who is entering our country and what risk they pose.
