THIS week we heard about the awful consequences upon the health of people in towns across England from car generated air pollution.
It is deeply regrettable that in this same week the main north south thoroughfare into and out of Northwich, namely London Road and the Kingsmead bypass is being brought to a virtual halt for up to five weeks as work commences opposite the former Art College.
Those residents and local councillors who fought tooth and nail to prevent the cause of this chaotic disruption – namely creating a road into a new housing development on the Dane Valley flood plain – will be deeply concerned at the amount of standing traffic on a stretch of road passing two primary schools, one sixth form college, a secondary school and nearby care homes and early years nursery.
What, may I ask, is the developer doing to mitigate this pollutant hazard?
