AS a long-standing colleague of Councillor Terry Murphy on Northwich Town Council, I was very proud to be able to join the many walking in tribute to this wonderful man last Saturday morning.
I was therefore pleased to hear that the Town Mayor, Cllr Kevin Rimmer, is asking for ideas on how to recognise Terry’s many years of community service.
As Terry’s two great passions were sport and giving opportunity to young people can I suggest thought is given to a Terry Murphy Memorial Sporting Award, given annually to either any local under 18 sporting club or individual who is judged by residents (with the assistance of the Guardian) to have made an outstanding achievement in their sporting field.
