At the Winsford Labour monthly food bank collection last weekend we were humbled by the generosity of residents who donated more than 100kg of supplies to Mid Cheshire Foodbank.
Special thanks to the children who used some of their pocket money to buy food.
Food banks should not be necessary, but the reality is that they are.
Insecure work, low pay and punitive government policy are forcing people to rely on food banks to feed themselves and their families.
The story repeated often is that people don’t think they will end up needing a food bank, but through an unexpected event their world turns upside down and they receive no help from the state.
Thanks to all those who donate to and volunteer.
Your support is the difference between families going hungry and being able to eat.
