THE local Tory MP and Pension Works and Pension Secretary Esther McVey has claimed that her own party’s benefit cuts are actually ‘fake news’.

This will come as rather a surprise to the many families and disabled and their carers in Northwich who are struggling day in and day out just to survive.

It isn’t fake news but fact that many families have to rely on weekly food banks.

It isn’t fake news but fact that some 1,700 local children are estimated to live in or below the poverty line.

And it isn’t fake news but fact that almost every independent assessment of the Universal Credit system, now being rolled out under her ministry, has concluded that it’s implementation will have a disastrous impact on the lives of our most vulnerable.
