THE article in October 4 issue relating that Leighton Hospital has lost more than £2 million because it has not met the national target for four hour waiting times shows how ridiculous the funding for the NHS has become.

My wife and I (both in our 70s) have had rather more experience of Leighton Hospital in the past couple of years than we would have wished.

Between us we have been to A&E, the eye care centre, urology, the hearing centre and the MacMillan cancer unit, also had treatment at Northwich Victoria and at The Christie, without exception we have received first class treatment from caring and friendly staff from every department that we have been to.

Rarely have we been kept waiting for more than half an hour even when the units concerned were obviously very busy.

I doubt that there is a better hospital anywhere in the country.
