WITH reference to The fly in the Ointment, August 27, regarding the unfortunate naming of certain cars in foreign countries, a similar misfortune applied to Fodens Ltd of Sandbach when exporting trucks to Portugal.

The word Foden in Portugese means the sex act therefore the name and badge for this particular market was hurriedly changed to Poden.

Later in the article regarding boys Christian names, mention was made of the current unpopularity of Keith as a name for a boy.

Earlier in the last century when a boy was born in the early 30s, he had an even chance that he would be named after one or both of his grandfathers.

Both of mine had the same name so I did not stand a chance and have hated it ever since. I cannot win.
