On the morning of Tuesday the 19th of November
the residents of Middlewich woke up to a fluffy blanket of snow covering everything in sight.

It's Cheshire's white Christmas!

Throughout the night, around 2 inches of snow fell, this is estimated to last until Thursday (Thursday 22nd November).

But what effects will this have on the community?

First and foremost, there will typically be more traffic as people tend to drive to work or school rather than walk due to the weather.

This is because the floor is slippery so can be dangerous for pedestrians.

However, ice can also be extremely dangerous to vehicles, causing spinning wheels and sometimes accidents - especially black ice!

This may cause more late school children and employees.

If you are walking, make sure to wrap up warm and walk slowly and carefully.

Secondly, i spoke to Tilly Harding, a Winsford resident, who explained to me about the snow's effects on farming and agriculture.

She said: "Snow may be cold and be difficult to move through, however, it does provide moisture to our plants in an otherwise dry environment

"The cold weather and snow can freeze the milking parlours, causing a major delay to milking times

"..produces too much moisture in the ground leading to contractors not being able to get on fields, meaning many winter jobs are left uncompleted"

In conclusion she said - " It doesn’t affect us a huge deal to be honest, other than making the ground too wet"

Finally, dog-walkers may be less of an abundance as the floor can be icy and dangerous and very cold to dogs paws.

Try to walk your dog at times when the snow has calmed down, and the floor is a little safer to ensure you are both protected.

Snow can be beautiful and exciting but always remember to wear warm clothes and stay safe on roads and pavements.
