NUISANCE behaviour was tackled when a high visibility impact day was held in Moulton.

Community safety wardens from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) organised the day to raise awareness of the role they play in the community.

They were joined by CWAC’s Streetscene officers and PCSOs as they tackled dog fouling, speeding and littering.

A number of residents were given free dog bags and advised they could get a £75 fine if they do not pick up after their dog.

They were also given leaflets containing the council’s contact number to report anyone not picking up or to ask for a specific area to be cleaned.

Signage in the area was also checked and replaced where required.

A speed gun was deployed on Jack Lane on traffic in both directions and 38 vehicles were found to be driving above the 30mph limit, while 68 vehicles were driving under the limit.

Streetscene officers and community safety wardens visited Moulton Primary School to deliver environmental workshops to pupils in Years Five and Six.

Children were shown a DVD about different types of litter then asked to design a poster to help reduce the amount of litter and dog faeces recently spotted outside the school gates.

The winning poster will be placed on a new bin that is to be located outside the school gates.

Clr Helen Weltman, CWAC’s ward councillor for Davenham and Moulton, said: “The varied role of a community safety warden was there for all local people to see during the impact day.

“It also showed how our community safety wardens and Streetscene service work together with police to help the Moulton community.”
