THE ‘comings and goings’ as well as retentions are continuing at leading Mid Cheshire clubs as the preparations continue for the 2026/27 football season.

Although no player arrivals had been announced by 1874 Northwich at the time of writing, new manager Rory Fallon had confirmed members of his backroom team and a number staying put from the promotion-winning squad of last term.

Danny Moss has been appointed as assistant manager, while the first-team coaching responsibilities have been handed to James Stokes.

Moss won the West Cheshire League title with Helsby last season and has held previous roles in management at Barnton and Wythenshawe, where Fallon was previously in charge.

Stokes spent last season in charge at Barnoldswick Town and has had other spells at the likes of Glossop North End, Mossley and Maine Road.

Club captain Mark Jones, record club appearance holder Matt Woolley, supporters and joint players’ player of the 2025/26 season Niall Osborne, fellow joint players’ player of the 2025/26 season Rob Hopley, central defender Tom Mitchell, plus forwards John McGrath and Jack Woolley have all signed up for the new campaign in Northern Premier League West.

However, last season’s top scorer and play-off match winner Mike Hayes has left the club to sign for JD Cymru Premier side Bala Town.

Meanwhile Northwich Victoria, defeated by 1874 in the play-off final, have confirmed that exciting young winger Ryan Atkinson and midfield powerhouse Leo Tanswell have committed to the club’s fresh Midland League Premier Division promotion push.

Vics have already played their first pre-season friendly, winning 2-1 away to a Macclesfield FC trialists XI on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Winsford United have announced the capture of high-energy, productive midfielder from Whitchurch Alport.

Youngster Kerr Dollochin has committed to continuing his development with the Blues, with Ewan McGeady also on board for 2026/27.

Witton Albion’s new under-21s side have a place confirmed in the North West U21 Development League next season and will play in the Championship.
