THE changes continue at 1874 Northwich ahead of their return to the Northern Premier League.
In the wake of the sudden and unexpected departures by manager Chris Herbert, first-team coach Mark Reed and goalkeeper coach Mark Corbett to Vauxhall Motors, assistant manager Steve Burr has decided to step away.
Burr, who had come on board two years ago alongside Herbert, said: “My time at 1874 has been very enjoyable indeed.
“Play-offs in the first season and promotion this season doesn’t get any better.
“The new manager whoever that is will want to bring his own staff in which is totally understandable.
“I’d like to wish everyone connected with 1874 all the very best for the future.
“It’s been an absolute blast, thank you.”
Burr, 66, is considered Northwich football royalty and he played a huge part in 1874’s success in his two-year period at Townfield.
He brought halcyon days to the town during his time as Northwich Victoria manager.
Burr’s glorious tenure as Vics boss between 2004 and 2007 saw the club win the Conference North title and reach the third round of the FA Cup to secure a dream tie away at Premier League side Sunderland as well as getting to the FA Trophy semi-finals.

That spell forms part of an impressive CV for a man long since considered one of non-league’s finest managers, with Kidderminster Harriers, Southport, Stafford Rangers and Hereford also among his former clubs.
He moved away from the coaching sphere, holding scouting positions at Fleetwood Town and Hull City before admitting the opportunity to join 1874 came ‘out of the blue’.
At 1874 it was a role reversal for him and Herbert, with the latter having worked as part of Burr’s backroom team during his spell as Chester manager.
As things stand, the impact of the departing management on the playing squad is unclear.
1874 Northwich are a month away from their first pre-season friendly and in a position of needing to recruit a new manager and backroom team for life back in Northern Premier League Division One West.
They secured promotion after beating Northwich Victoria 1-0 in the Midland League Premier Division Play-Off Final at the Apec Taxis Stadium in Runcorn in April.
