NORTHWICH Victoria have laid out their approach as they go into an Easter weekend that could determine the outcome of the league title.

There could be more twists and turns to come before Vics or Hanley Town take the Midland League Premier Division crown and the sole automatic promotion place into the Northern Premier.

Two tough hurdles stand in Vics’ way, a home clash with sixth-placed Dudley Town on Saturday and a ‘derby’ trip to fellow promotion-chasers 1874 Northwich at Townfield on Easter Monday.

And then they will end the campaign at home to Coton Green on Saturday, April 11.

Vics took over top spot on Saturday with their 6-0 win at Studley and Hanley’s 3-2 home loss to AFC Wolverhampton, but Hanley returned in kind on Tuesday when they won 7-0 at Stourport Swifts in their game in hand.

That gives the Stoke team a three-point cushion at the summit, while the sides are level on goal difference.

“We’ve got to concentrate on ourselves and it’s about us reaching our standards,” said Vics assistant manager Jack Turner.

“As long as we can do that, we’ll then see where we land.”

Vics junior and youth product Will Bentley, who scored twice on his full debut in the victory at Studley, added: “It’s good to be back on track because we’ve had a tough couple of weeks.

“But it was good to get the ball rolling again and try to build some momentum into the last three (league) games of the season.

“We’ll regroup at training on Thursday, work on a few things for the two big games to come.

“Hopefully we can keep the form going and put as much pressure on Hanley as possible.

“Focus on ourselves, try and get better and try to finish the season strongly.”

Vics could do with a favour from Winsford United, who are in their own race for a play-offs position and visit Hanley on Saturday before heading to Whitchurch Alport on Monday.

Blues, who drew 0-0 at Abbey Hulton United on Monday, still have a game in hand and are currently fourth on goal difference with AFC Wolverhampton, a point behind 1874 Northwich and a point ahead of sixth-placed Dudley Town.

Third-placed 1874 travel to Coton Green on Saturday before hosting Vics on Monday.
