NEW 1874 Northwich signing Josh Oultram didn’t take long to make his mark on his debut in the Midland League ‘derby’ clash against Northwich Victoria.
The powerful forward, brought in 24 hours earlier from Northern Premier League West side Kidsgrove Athletic on a dual registration basis, scored the opener and created the second before a dominant 1874 ran out 4-1 victors at Barton Stadium in Winsford.
He was at the back post to head home Matty Fenton’s long throw after only four minutes.
Then he was brought down in the box 10 minutes later for Scott McGowan to double the lead from the penalty spot.
McGowan was gifted his side’s third goal three minutes into the second period when he pounced on Mackenzie Faulkner’s square ball across his own box.
That could easily have been his hat-trick goal, as he rattled the crossbar with an overhead kick in the first half.
Callum Parker netted with a Vics penalty after 73 minutes and 1874 substitute Joel Jones completed the scoring on 85 minutes after being played in one-on-one by a perfect Liam Fitzpatrick pass.
It all adds up to 1874 sitting second on the Premier Division ladder with three wins from three, the only side in the division to have won all their games so far.
Vics have slipped to 15th, only two points clear of bottom side Wolverhampton Casuals.
In Northern Premier League West, Witton Albion also scored four goals in seeing off Runcorn Linnets at the U Lock It Stadium in front of a bumper 672 crowd.
Joe Duckworth delivered a double for the second game in a row, while fellow hot scorer Elliot Rokka also hit the mark again as Albion climbed to third place only a point behind the top two.
Rokka unlocked Runcorn’s defence in the fourth minute and Duckworth gave his side some breathing space when he netted 10 minutes into the second period.
Linnets Jacques Welsh was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 69th minute and Duckworth tucked away the resultant penalty.
Wealth Dasilva got his name on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute as Witton stretched their unbeaten run to four matches.
Winsford United’s eight-match unbeaten sequence is over due to a 1-0 loss at Eccleshall in North West Counties League First Division South.
They were reduced to 10 men after 20 minutes when Jordan Cobley was judged to have handled the ball on the goal-line.
Rubbing salt into the wound, Mitchell Glover netted the resultant penalty goal that proved to be the game’s winner as the hosts recorded only their second win of the league campaign so far.
Blues will regret some of their missed chances but battled hard.
Barnton blamed poor defending for conceding the only goal of their game at Foley Meir, with Thomas Kirkham netting after 49 minutes.
