WINSFORD United marched on in the FA Vase but Northwich Victoria crashed out, while Witton Albion fell to defeat at Shifnal Town.

Niza Chilufya came off the bench to net the winner for Blues as they edged home 2-1 at Barnoldswick Town and bagged their place in the third round for the second successive season.

Kal Boyle put Winsford 1-0 in front from the penalty spot in the seventh minute after Matty Birchall was brought down in the box at the point he was shaping to shoot for goal.

Boyle thought he had made it 2-0 but his effort was ruled out for offside and then the hosts levelled matters from the spot after Ashton Brogan, tracking back, tripped his man inside the danger area.

Jacob Kirwan pulled off a great save from a free-kick to keep the score square in the second half.

That was the closest either side came to a second goal until Chilufya turned sharply and put the ball past the keeper to polish off a lovely team move and seal the win for Blues against their North West Counties League Premier Division opponents.

Vics, meanwhile, were 2-0 ahead at lower-level Droyslden but ended up exiting the competition 4-2.

Strikes from Sam Cook (4mins) and Mama Djabi put the Midland League Premier Division leaders in control at The Butchers Arms.

But the hosts, going well in third in NWCFL Division One North, rallied late in the first half.

Nellson Van netted in the 41st and 45th minutes to leave the sides turning around all square.

And another quickfire double in the 56th and 58th minutes, with Van completing his hat-trick and Cody Artwell banging in the fourth, took the tie away from Vics.

Elsewhere, all five goals in Witton’s loss at Shifnal Town came in the first half.

A tap-in from Matthew Barnes-Homer put the hosts in front after two minutes at the Accoustafoam Stadium.

Joe Duckworth coolly slotted home a penalty to make it 1-1 seven minutes later.

Then an Aaron Flemming ball into the box evaded everyone and found its way into the far corner to put Witton ahead in the 19th minute.

Witton defender Ben Dufton-Kelly and keeper Cameron Kelly collided attempting to deal with a cross from the left and when the ball popped clear Barnes-Homer rifled his shot past Flemming on the goal-line for 2-2 after 33 minutes.

Soon after Jack Loughran was left unmarked in the box and he powered his header into the top right corner past a rooted Terry.

Witton forced home keeper Andrew Wycherley into some top saves in the second half but could not find the equaliser and slip to 16th in Northern Premier League West, still three points clear of the relegation zone.

Shifnal’s victory moved them up two places to second on the ladder.

In the NWCFL Division One South, Barnton achieved a 2-1 home win against Foley Meir.

They went ahead in the 20th minute courtesy of Malachi Babayale but the visitors were back on terms in the 70th minute thanks to Daniel Ward.

But five minutes later Joel Hind scored the winner that allowed The Villagers to climb two places to fourth in the table.
