PARK suffered more injury woe on Saturday as influential skipper Dave Cross had to go off with a fractured ankle.

Mike Eaves also withdrew early with concussion as they were edged out by Tyldesley at Burrows Hill.

The hosts’ young side were up against it from the off against an experienced visiting outfit, who broke through in the 12th minute after Park had initially kept them out.

Roger Pickering's men battled bravely, led by Cross, and it was the skipper who burst over the line after good work from Josh Brown and Lee Allmark.

Cameron Flanagan converted to level the scores.

However, parity did not last long as Winnington switched off to allow the visitors in for a second try to give them a 14-7 lead at the break.

Park raised the tempo after the break until Cross fell awkwardly from a lineout for the injury that will end his season.

Tyldesley added another try to open up a seemingly unassailable lead, but Park refused to crumble.

Alex Glendinning displayed a combination of pace and power to bounce off two tacklers to sprint to the line and give Flanagan an easy conversion.

Four minutes later, Park were level.

Quick hands found Danny Williams and he broke from inside his own half before finding Jack Phillips in support to finish off a brilliant move.

After Eaves was carried off, Park were caught offside from the resulting scrum and the visitors elected to kick.

It came back off the post, but Park were offside again and the Tyldesley kick took the simple chance to win the game for his side.

Defeat was harsh on a Park side who battled until the very end despite the trying circumstances.

They drop to fifth in the South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two table with two games of the season remaining.
