DARRYL Fallows has become the first player this season to score two maximum breaks in the Northwich and District League.

His contribution helped title-hopefuls Gladstone C to complete a whitewash of Gladstone E, and narrows a gap to top spot in the Division One table.

That position, for now at least, is occupied by champions Castle D after they brushed aside guests from Gladstone B.

Barn Owl E inflicted a fifth successive defeat on struggling Gladstone A, who recovered from 3-1 down to level.

However Paul Lightfoot won a deciding frame for the Barnton outfit.

Castle B won at Rudheath, where captain Adi Faulkner benefitted from a fluke on his final ball before sinking the black to establish at 3-1 lead.

Steve Baskerville then clinched a victory for the visitors by taking the next frame.

Witton Chimes A returned to winning ways at the first attempt to stay out in front in a race for promotion from Division Two.

They came from behind to beat Greenbank C.

Castle C are only a point adrift in second place after Dave Hornby clinched a decider at Owley Wood A.

Greenbank A succumbed to hosts Owley Wood A, another head-to-head settled only in the seventh frame.

Kevin Sanders was the match-winner this time around for the Weaverham club.

Gladstone D were the section’s highest-scorers, restricting Wheatsheaf to a single frame.

Elsewhere Lion A made it back-to-back victories after triumphing at Barn Owl B.

Iron Bridge A share the lead in Division Three after recording a second whitewash win in as many weeks, this time at Blue Barrel B’s expense.

Broken Cross have an identical record after five matches, although they had to work harder to edge a close encounter with Green Dragon.

Slow & Easy are still without a win after going down 5-2 at Blue Barrel A, where Jake Birchall made sure of victory for the home team.

Matthew Fallows held his nerve to win a final-frame shoot-out for Iron Bridge H, something he also did seven days earlier, in a head-to-head with Greenbank B.

Moulton Legion continue to climb the table following a 5-2 victory at home to Witton Chimes B.
