SPARKS continue to lead the way in qualifying for the Mid-Cheshire Super League after recording a notable whitewash of Victoria.

A fourth successive win leaves them 10 points clear at the Group One summit.

Tigers occupy second spot after a 6-4 win at Wreckers, the highlight of which was a comeback singles success for Ben Chan against Terry Turner – one of the league’s outstanding players.

Veterans Alf Perry and Dave Nelson both recorded a hat-trick of solo wins for Manweb, who are off the mark for a new season following a 7-3 win at Hawks.

Steve Stockton proved to be a valuable stand-in for Bears in a 6-4 win at Cobras, who only had Shaun Devaney and Dave Myles available to play.

The leading five teams in Group Two are separated by just six points after four matches.

Daresbury occupy top spot after a whitewash of Sticklebacks, while Valiants’ 9-1 win against Rangers sends them up to second spot.

Snakes lost a hard-fought encounter with visitors Wolves during which four head-to-heads went all the way.

However the visitors won all of them.

Keiran Underwood played out an epic battle with both Martin Shelby and Stewart Hakes during Winsford’s 7-3 win against Kinetics.

However he narrowly missed out on each occasion after a fifth game.

Garry Owen’s meeting with Shelby went the distance too before the latter squeezed home 12-10 in a decider.
