NORTHWICH Rowing Club will again be represented at Henley Royal Regatta after two boats came through qualifying races on Friday.

Brothers George and Finn Lawton were part of a men’s senior coxless four that was among one of the fastest crews to complete a time trial on the 2,112m course.

Harry Taylor and Joe Anderson complete a line-up that takes its place – along with 31 other crews – in a draw at Henley Town Hall tomorrow afternoon.

The first round of the Wyfold Challenge Cup is scheduled for Wednesday.

They will be joined next week by a Northwich junior men’s quad consisting of George Crouchley, Kevin Dudley, Rhys Coffey and Josh Burke.

That combination also ranked inside the top 14, from a field of more than 40 rivals, in a preliminary for the Fawley Challenge Cup.

Meanwhile a junior women’s quad with Anya George, Charlotte Almond, Imogen Wolstencroft and Beth Willford-Dutton on board missed out by the narrowest of margins.

With only eight crews able to progress, they classified 11th in the Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup.

A total of 43 entered.

Emily Ford, a former captain at Grange School Rowing Club, made the cut as part of a Newcastle University women's four that won in their boat class at Henley Women's Regatta last weekend.

Along with Ohio State University, they take one of two places spare for qualifiers in the main draw.
