Harry Kewell has been sacked by Notts County after 14 matches in charge of the Sky Bet League Two club.

Australian Kewell signed a three-year contract to replace Kevin Nolan at Meadow Lane in early September.

The 40-year-old former Leeds and Liverpool player managed just three victories with County, leaving them 22nd in the table.

“Results have not been good enough and performance levels are a continuing concern,” chairman Alan Hardy told the club website.

“We see no reason to continue with something we don’t think can work.”

Steve Chettle will take temporary control of County’s first team, with the club hoping to announce a permanent replacement ahead of Saturday’s game with Cheltenham.

Kewell, who left Crawley to join the Magpies, departs alongside assistant manager Warren Feeney and first-team analyst Paul Murphy.
