BERINSFIELD booked their place in the final of the North Berks Charity Shield after a 2-0 win in blustery conditions against fellow Division 1 side Steventon, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

Max Palmer headed Berinsfield in front from close range from a Luke Holdsworth corner.

In the second half, with the wind at their backs, they increased their lead as Palmer’s first shot rebounded off Steventon keeper Adam Waclawek into the path of Michael Hinkin who fired home.

Berinsfield will meet holders Saxton Rovers in the final after they saw off Division 2 outfit Blewbury 4-1 in the other semi.

Two goals from Tom Stanley, plus further strikes from Kyle Allsworth and Ollie Nadin put Saxton through.

In league action, East Hendred moved up to third place in the Division 1 standings as they hammered North Oxford 5-0.

Liam McCullough bagged a brace, with Michael Hooton, Jason McDowell and Simon Joyce scoring the others.

Long Wittenham also collected three points with a 2-0 win at Lambourn Sports, Steve Molloy and Matthew Saunders finding the back of the net.

In Division 2, Watlington thumped Stanford in the Vale 10-1.

A hat-trick from Martin Williams led the way, with Jason Williams and Darren Outen adding doubles.

Nick Little, William Wright and Scott Waite scored the others.

Cholsey saw off leaders Saxton Rovers Res 4-1 as Martin Dawson (2), Josh Chapman and Steve Hawes found the net.

Mike Quinan replied for Rovers.

Division 3 leaders Faringdon Town Res missed the chance to close out their season with victory as they lost 3-1 at home to Ardington Res.

Adam Day, Josh Scott and Sam Cox netted for Ardington.

Hagbourne United Res went six points clear at the top of Division 4 with a 5-1 win over Steventon Res.

Lewis Noble (2), Rhys Griffiths, Ross McDonald and Charlie Noble were on the mark, with Kevin Thimbleby replying.
