WHARTON Cons A are one of only two teams able to boast of an unblemished record in the Premier Division following the first four rounds.

They inflicted a heavy defeat on Rudheath B on Friday, when Shaun Yearsley (21-3) was the best of 10 winners at Middlewich Road.

Comberbach A are the other unbeaten side.

Promoted Alsager ended their wait for a first win, beating Rudheath A, while champions Castle Private A proved too strong for Middlewich Community Church.

Steve Baskerville (21-2) was their star turn.

Crosstown A, hoping for an instant return to the top-flight after they were relegated last summer, lead the way in Section One.

Comberbach B, conquerors of Barnton Cricket Club A, and Owley Wood A – victors at Davenham A – head the chasing pack behind them.

Pacesetters Castle Private C top-scored in Section Two, their 10 winners at home to Helsby totalling 237.

Hazel Pear B shared six victories each with Sandbach Park, but prevailed by 13 on aggregate – Gill Dale (21-6) recording their best win.

In Section Three, leaders Crosstown B, Lostock Graylams and Tarporley RBL A have all won three of their first four matches.

However Winsford Cons B, at home to struggling Cuddington A, were the division’s leading scorers this week with 236.

Hop Pole B were one mark short of a full house against Winnington B in Section Four, while Hazel Lightfoot (21-5) starred for Owley Wood B in a home win against Moulton RBL B.

Owley Wood C, for whom Robbie Williams and Robert Wilton recorded wins to single-figures against Barnton Cricket Club C, are the early leaders in Section Five.

Elsewhere Castle Private D squeezes past hosts Meadowbank B by a single chalk on aggregate.
