VALE Royal Athletics Club included three teenagers in a six-strong team that placed inside the top 50 at Saturday’s English Road Running Association National Relays.

Zack Bamber, Ryan Moore and Michael Vennard helped the Knights Grange-based club, which celebrated its best-yet result at the regional qualifier last month, to 43rd position at Nottingham’s Clumber Park.

Chris Perry ran the fastest leg – a sub 16-minutes time over 5km – of a line-up completed by England masters international Stuart Doyle and George Thompson.

Together they clocked 1:41.05 in a race won by Newham & Essex Beagles in 1:30.36 ahead of Liverpool Harriers A.
