AFTER claiming one national schools’ title, Katie Gerrard has her sights set on another during this weekend’s English Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Donington Park.

The Grange student claimed gold at the Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) national championships in Rugby, 90 seconds clear of closest rival – and classmate at the Hartford school – Katherine Owen.

She heads Cheshire’s challenge in the senior girls’ race on Saturday.

Support comes from St Nicholas High School’s Emma-Louis Pyatt, a medal-winner for Vale Royal Athletics Club at the national cross country championships, plus Lucy Scott (Sir John Deane’s College) and Jade Evans (Mid-Cheshire College).

John Humphries and Christopher Larkin, also from St Nicholas, run in the junior boys’ category while Grange’s Jon Owen – fifth in the under 16s boys’ class at the ISA championships – is part of the inter boys’ group for Cheshire.

Elliot Bowker, ruled out by injury from last weekend’s inter-counties championships, faces a race just to be fit to join fellow Sir John Deane’s College students Matthew Hulse and Patrick Stradling in the senior boys’ line-up.
