EDWARD Pettitt was a race-winner for Vale Royal Athletics Club in the third round of the North Staffordshire Cross Country League in Stoke on Saturday.
He was fastest in the under 11s boys’ race at Park Hall Country Park.
Sister Clara narrowly missed out on making it a family double, placing second in the under 17s girls’ category behind victor Tasha Stone (City of Stoke).
In the senior women’s race, Jade Evans was second under 20s runner to finish en route to 16th overall – a four-place improvement on her showing at Staffs Common last time out.
Angie Channing, Debbie Moreton and Carole Williams completed a team score, leaving Vale Royal sixth among Division One teams.
For the men, Rob Olliver led the club’s challenge with a fine 29th position.
Scott Bamber, Craig Sephton and James Ainsworth placed inside the top 100 as Vale Royal were ninth overall in Division One.
