CHESHIRE FA Senior Cup final goals hero David Fizpatrick has agreed to stay at Northwich Victoria for a second season.

The former Stockport County junior, who scored both goals to sink old foes Altrincham as Vics retained the trophy last month, signed following a meeting with manager Andy Preece yesterday, Friday.

Fitzpatrick, 21, joined originally as a free agent last November.

He went on to make more than 30 appearances in league and cup, scoring five goals.

He is not the only player to pledge his short-term future to the Evo-Stik League Premier Division club after defender Raphale Evans, also 21, will stay too after accepting Preece’s offer to stay.

The ex-Rochdale stopper takes to six the number of players on board already for next term along with contracted quartet Michael Clarke, Tony Evans, Graeme Law and Steve Woods.

Preece told the Guardian that he hopes the list of names from this season’s squad, which finished 12th in the final table, staying on would be longer by the time he goes on holiday next week.
