TOM Bentham will have to wait a little longer to make his debut for Witton Albion after switching to Wincham Park on work experience.

The teenage front man agreed to a temporary move from League One club Rochdale last week.

“He comes highly recommended to us,” said Albion football secretary Graham Shuttleworth.

“We’re happy to play a part in his development and hopefully he can help us continue our push toward the top part of the table.”

Bentham, 18, is a tall striker who started his career at Witton’s Cheshire neighbours Crewe Alexandra.

He moved to Spotland two years ago, where he has been a regular in the youth team since.

His arrival gives manager Paul Ogden an extra option in attack alongside top scorer Andy Kinsey, fit-again Ashley Stott and Carl Frost.

And the Albion boss does not intend to stop there.

The Crewe Chronicle reported on Thursday that veteran Nantwich Town defender Danny Adams is a target to bolster Witton’s back line.

There has been no official word from either club.

Meanwhile striker Aaron Taylor, who made a single start for Witton, has switched to league rivals Bamber Bridge.

Central defender Paul Booth, who has not appeared in red and white this season following knee surgery in the summer, has joined Curzon Ashton.
