TWO young gymnasts have made history by winning their club's first junior international cup medals.

Cheshire Gymnastics’ Maria Antrobus and Guto Williams earned bronze medals at the Loulé Cup in Portugal, which featured competitors from 16 countries.

Maria, competing in trampoline, secured third place in the under 13s category on her event debut.

Club chiefs said she displayed courage, hard work and resilience, literally bouncing back from an injury earlier in the year.

Guto also took bronze in the under 11/12s tumbling category, delivering a clean performance after battling through some nerves on his competition debut.

Senior tumbler Ethan Spencer competed new runs including a triple back somersault, but missed out on a medal.
