Mid Cheshire League, Premier

Wharton BC A continued their unbeaten run, winning at Castle Sports B although the hosts did manage to take chalks away from the league leaders.

Mike Hamman's win of 21-3 helped Castle B restrict Wharton to their lowest score of the season, 156-176.

Second-place Castle Sports A travelled to fifth-place Crewe PO and came away winning 159-188. Jason Cornes' 21-4 win helped Castle close the gap on the league leaders.

Third-place Victoria A had seven winners in their 190-156 home win against Rudheath A. Victoria bowler Ryan Sandham and Rudheath’s Chris Cooper shared the plaudits, both winning 21-7.

On Thursday, Frodsham Red Lion A had 10 winners at home to Rudheath A in their 210-126 victory. Sue Worrall’s 21-6 win helped move Frodsham into fourth place.

Then on Friday, Frodsham Red Lion A won their home match 188-164 against Comberbach A. Comberbach bowler Phil Davies helped keep the result close winning 21-7.

Owley Wood A bowler Paul Mackie winning 21-7 helped Owley win their home match 195-162 against Shavington A.

Kingswood BC had their second-best win of the season, Graham Donnelly’s 21-8 helping Kingswood in their 197-145 home victory against Barnton CC A.

Section One

Barnton CC B had nine winners in their 203-147 home win against Rudheath B. Sarah Johnson’s 21-5 provided the standout win for Barnton.

Castle Sports C in second place continued their march to join their A and B teams in the Premier, winning their home match 198-154 against Meadowbank A. Dave Buckley 21-8 was the best of Castle’s wins.

Section leaders Wharton BC B maintained their position with a 196-137 home win against Victoria B. Gary Cookson 21-0 was the best of Wharton’s wins.

Moulton RBL A had seven winners in their 186-137 home win against Castle Sports D. Dave Spruce 21-4 was the pick of Moulton’s winners.

Frodsham Red Lion B very nearly had an away win with two bowlers, Paula Gamon and Patrick Richardson, both carding 21-11 wins. But in the end, Comberbach B just grabbed their 183-181 home win.

Crosstown won their home tie 165-148 against Owley Wood B. John Webb 21-4 had the best result.

Section Three

Wharton Rec A had eight winners in their 203-128 home win against Winnington B. Ian Forster 21-4 was the best of the home winners.

Phil Doody 21-5 helped Owley Wood D win their home game 200-133 against Fern Villa BC B.

Delamere won their home game 192-166 against Cuddington, with Lawrence Doogan 21-11 having the best result for the home team.

Shavington B had nine winners in their 189-119 home victory against Tarporley B. Mick Mayhew 21-3 had the best result.

Section leaders Winnington A had a home game against second place Crowton. Clive Hulse 21-4 helped Winnington to an important win 179-159.

Barnton CC C had seven winners, away from home against Meadowbank B. David Rutter 21-6 helped Barnton to their 151-196 win.

Section Four

Rudheath Bowls C won their home game 201-147 against Norley, Vicky Freeborough 21-8 having the best result.

Davenham C had seven winners in their 189-138 home victory against Castle Sports E. Margaret Buckley 21-1 was the best home winner.

William Stringer 21-3 helped Comberbach D in their 189-138 home win against Hartford B.

Barnton CC D won their home game 192-132 against Moulton RBL B. George Taylor 21-2 helped Barnton to their win.

Jim Flood 21-5 was the standout winner for home team Owley Wood E in their 181-161 success against Davenham D.

Section leaders Hartford A played at home to second place Sandbach Park B, who achieved a surprising 175-178 away win. Carolyn Stiff 21-7 helped Hartford to keep the match close.

Mid Cheshire Ladies, Division One

Norley bowler Paula Gamon’s 21-9 triumph helped her team to a 152-132 victory at home to second place Castle Ladies.

First place Red Lion Ladies got back to winning ways at Barnton B. Hazel Williams 21-9 helped Frodsham to their 118-159 win.

Barrow Ladies won their home match against Barnton A 155-116, with Lynne Spencer’s 21-6 victory assisting Barrow to retain third place.

Division Two

Rudheath bowlers Christine Bowyer and Brenda Panesh both won 21-5 in Rudheath’s 168-82 home victory.

Rode Heath had six winners at home to Lady Owls B, with Dorothy Moss 21-1 helping Rudheath win 142-107.

Second place Davenham Ladies played at home to third place Bostock Ladies but even Lynette Granger’s 21-5 could not stop Davenham winning 138-127.

Cuddington Ladies had only one home victory as first place unbeaten Crowton Ladies won the match 100-164.

Gill Dale 21-5 was the standout result for Crowton.
